Hello, as you know I reply to every letter and a lot of you ask me questions. Some are secrets and I can only tell you a little of the answer but here are a few of my secrets.

How old are you?

Time is a modern thing and invented by people. Watches, Clocks and Calenders are all new really. My time is based on the sun and moon. When it becomes light, it is another day and after Christmas time it is another year. I don't know how many years I have been Father Christmas and I don't remember being young - maybe I've always been old - perhaps I was born old?

How do you get into houses ?

I have a magic key. No one can use it but me and it only works at Christmas time ... and it only works when you believe in the magic. I can come down chimneys at Christmas, even when there is a nice fire ... as long as you believe. Christmas is a magical time when beautiful things happen to nice people.

How many Santas are there ?

There is one Father Christmas, me. But in each town there are different assistants, all called Santa and I need them very much to work in all those Grottos that the shops build for the Christmas season. You can tell them what you want and they will let me know - and if you ask them if they are the real Santa, they have to say yes because they are. Who knows, you could see me tomorrow in a grotto in your town!
